Anaheim, CA — The MUZEO Museum and Cultural Center is proud to announce ¡CUARENTA! A 40-Year Survey of Abel Alejandre. Curated by Mat Gleason, this landmark exhibition will run from February 8 through April 20, 2025. It is a comprehensive exploration of Alejandre’s evocative realism, spanning four decades of original paintings, drawings, prints, public art studies, and personal sketchbooks.
The public is invited to the Opening Reception on February 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the MUZEO Museum and Cultural Center (241 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805). Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, mingle with fellow art enthusiasts, and gain unique insights into Alejandre’s dynamic creative process.
From his beginnings as a young muralist for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles to achieving recognition in the fine art world, Alejandre’s evolution is defined by rigorous mark-making and a fearless engagement with the boundaries between the real and the imagined. ¡CUARENTA! celebrates his signature draftsmanship—a testament to his technical expertise and continuous experimentation. The exhibition highlights Alejandre’s meticulous attention to detail and his distinctive, narrative-driven approach.
Curator Mat Gleason notes, “Abel Alejandre’s work transcends straightforward realism. He invites viewers to question what they see—to move beyond the surface and explore the illusions and truths present in each piece.”
