El Pinche Buk
Charles Bukowski is a writer who speaks to me. While his prose may read like a documentation of failure, it never apologizes. He experienced an over bearing father, miserable poverty, out casted, misfortunes and insults both great and insignificant. Manhood is seldom spoken about and, more rarely, written with such gruesome honesty. Private and public humiliations, a lust for apathy and perversions of a degenerate are not his shortcomings but the mirroring of men of our generation. My work deals with manhood as I experience and understand it and Bukowski articulates what I don’t understand or want to remember.
